This little girl in a hoodie was following people around Chevron House last week, and would only stop when the guy hands her a ball. Annoying much?
(She's actually quite cute in person but if anyone really follows me around, I'd be freaked out.)
Now before you call upon your religious masters to help you perform any ritual, I want you to relax. We've lived with her all our lives, let's call her Little Miss Free Radical. We've heard so much about her, but how much do we understand about this scary little creature?
She's always going to be there and she's always going to cause our aging, but there is a way we can manage her and slow that damage down.
Free radicals are unstable molecules or atoms that has a single unpaired electron in the outer shell, and it needs to be paired up. So it reacts with a neighbouring molecule by pulling an electron, causing that molecule to become a free radical itself. That free radical does the same to other neighbouring molecules, and a chemical chain reaction occurs. This causes damage to the molecule and to the cells containing it, and can in turn lead to various effects of aging or even cancer.
Enter antioxidants. Treat them like offerings to this ghost. They counter damage from free radicals because they are capable of donating free electrons to the free radical without forming another. OPCs - Oligomeric Proanthocyanidin Complexes, have highly antioxidant properties which help to counter free radical damage, as well as enhancing skin elasticity and promoting better blood circulation in skin cells for youthful and glowing skin. This is when BRAND'S® InnerShine® Berry Essence with Grape Seed Extract comes in.
Rich in OPCs, BRAND'S® InnerShine® Berry Essence is an all-natural nutritive essence from 5 different premium berries - blueberries, blackcurrants, chokeberries, acai berries and cranberries. These berries are also rich in potent antioxidants and anthocyanins, vital for protection from UV damage, pollution and other environmental factors.
Glowing and youthful skin? Bring it on baby!
I've always thought that skincare products that I apply on my skin are sufficient for preventing aging and helping me retain my skin elasticity. Guess I was wrong. After doing my research on free radicals and how they actually cause aging by reacting with my cells, I realise prevention from the inside is just as, if not more important.
Recommended to be taken chilled, I took it as it was, half expecting it to taste funny, but I was pretty surprised to find that it tasted like the Ribena drink I grew up loving. The texture was a little thick, like undiluted Ribena, but since it was just 50ml, I finished it in 2 mouthfuls. Of course it would be better if it was chilled, though it didn't bother me that it wasn't because it was so easy to drink. One little bottle fits nicely into my handbag so I could bring it out and take it whenever. I brought 6 bottles with me on my trip to Indonesia and they didn't take up much weight or space. ;)
