Magic Masala Potato Chips???

Yup, you read right. I was shopping at Mustafa with Hayley after an Nicole by OPI event (more on that later), and I was looking for some chips the bf introduced to me (Chex Mix) when I found this instead:

I know Lay's has a lot of non-conventional flavours which are not available in Singapore. I remember trying Lay's Crab flavour (pink packaging) when I was in Moscow, Russia, and OMG it was by far my favourite Lay's flavor!!! Should any of you ever go to Russia, please please please please go get it! I miss it now that I remember. *drools*

I just wasn't expecting to find this. Knowing that I'm going to meet a super adventurous friend later on at night who tries everything, I bought it.

The conversation with said friend when I mentioned the chips went something like this -

Me: I was at Mustafa just now looking for chips and I found this Lay's Chips. Guess the flavour!
A: Wah how to guess? Is it an animal? A plant?
Me: It's not an animal. But eh...*lost because I really didn't know what masala meant, quickly took out my phone to google it, and it said "a combination of spices"*...not exactly plant.
A:???
Me: It's a term la! And the flavour is like a phrase. (Tell me "India's Magic Masala" is not a phrase. Lol. And how do you explain what flavour that is???)
A: Wah lao just show me la!!!!
Me: *takes the plastic bag, gives a cheeky face, reaches into plastic bag, pauses for effect, gives another cheeky face....lol!!! I know I know~ then whips it out*
A: *looks, bursts out laughing*

A then turned it over and read the back. This one had me laughing like a hyena because it was read out to me in an Indian accent.

What the hell does "bindaas" moments mean???

After I was done squealing like a piglet, I googled the term on my phone and this was what came out

"Bindaas" is a word in Hindi slang that originated (like many other Hindi slangs) from Mumbaiya Hindi (the dialect spoken in and around Mumbai and used in films in the mouth of lesser educated people). It's now spread all over North India and pretty much lost its slang status. It's even a part of the OED now.
(it can also be spelt bindas and bindass)

1. originally, cool and carefree; (of a person) not worrying too much about anything.
(now not used except as passing into sense#2)

2. in a wider sense, used generally as an adjective of approval; good, excellent, first-class, cool; by hyperbole, okay, passable.

3. also used as almost a verbal tic, without any specific meaning, to start, continue and finish a conversation.

4. also the name of a TV channel broadcast in India.
2. Guy#1 : Hey man, how was your exam?
Guy#2 : What to say, yaar, the paper was bindaas. I'm surely gonna get an A+ here.

3. Guy#1 : Hey yaar, where've you been?
Guy#2 : Bindaas man, don't worry, I'm right back.

Guy#1 : So dude, don't forget that, 'k?
Guy#2 : Bindaas, man, I won't forget.

How did the chips taste like? It had a very curry powdery smell, and tasted a little curryish (duh) with a lot of spices. I could taste all the cumin, coriander, garlic, etc etc that was used. Wasn't too salty for me. Might be a tad hot for some, but I loved the fact that it was spicy. One word: bindaas!

XOXO,
