UPDATES FROM HOKKAIDO!!!

Weather is really crazy here!!! Just yesterday I got to experience like -20 degrees Celcius. Is that cold or what? That's not even freezing man...that's 20 degrees BELOW FREEZING temperature. Brrrr~~~

Too many pictures, though not too much of myself. Been helping Mummy and Sis take most of the pics. =D

Here's what I have from Day 1!!!

This is Mum and Sis fresh out of the Hokkaido Domestic Airport (we transferred from Narita International). I mentioned that this is their first snow, but I've never mentioned that this is also their virgin winter experience...

Guess what they're doing?

Blowing smoke!!!! Lol!!!!! They got sooooooo excited when they got out and realized that they are emitting "smoke" when they talk that they just started "Haaa-ing". Lol~ Yes I got my sampat-ness from my Mum, if you're one of those closer ones who got to see that side of me. =D

Me being all composed. Actually the first time I experienced winter I did EXACTLY the same thing. I'm sure that's true for most of you yes? YES DON'T LIE!!!! Nothing to be ashamed about. It's good to be able to laugh at yourself. ^.^

Very rushed tour schedule (we went on Chan Brothers), so we settled our first meal with food packed from the airport. Me and Sis - MOS Burger.

Someone told me that tour packages follow this pattern:

Anyone who has done a typical tour package (other than the ones in Singapore because we are just too small) will have to agree with me. Lol.

My first photo stop: Jigokudani, also known as Hell Valley.

Beautiful as hell...and no, no pun intended, really. It IS so beautiful...

There is snow everywhere!!! I've seen snow in Seoul, and Milan, and atop Mount Titlis in Switzerland, but seeing snow just there, piled high, WHITE, on the landscape...that's only my first. First time was in Vancouver, and I didn't even play with snow then!

I've to remember to trim that fringe when I get to the hotel room... NOT cool.

Jigokudani is actually an explosion crater formed about 10,000 years ago. It still gives off hot water (which has become snow and ice here) and volcanic gas, and the whole place smells strongly of sulphur.

The floors are very very slippery due to melting snow and ice on the pathways, so we didn't get to cover any of the trails. I've heard that they're worth the walks. Maybe next time. ;)

Since everyone's in the mood to play and take nice snowy pictures, Mummy decided to "borrow" a snow spade from the uncles who were shovelling the snow. Nice!!!

And it's time to 上车睡觉 again! Before I went to Lala-Land this was what I captured from the bus...

See those prints on the floor? They were very small footprints, and I kept seeing them across the smooth white snow. Too small for a man/child's. Fox? Raccoon? Whatever they belong to, I think these prints are really cute.

Next: Lake Toya. The view was nothing short of impressive. I mean, look at this:

Lake Toya is a volcanic Caldera lake, and is said to be the lake that NEVER freezes. (You can ice-skate on lakes that freezes, but you can't with this one.) It is also the 2nd most TRANSPARENT lake in Japan.

It's really a challenge to walk on snow, especially when each step you take, you never know how deep your legs are gonna stick in.

But I still find thick snow easier to walk on than thin ones which have melted to water then frozen to become ice (understand what I'm saying? Lol~). Those are slippery, and you can fall and hurt yourself if you're not careful. I nearly fell, too many times. If you fall on snow, however, you'll just end up sitting on the thick cushion of snow, which is soft. ^.^

God bless the people who come here to picnic in negative 5 degrees weather. One thing we're sure of - the food won't go bad even if you don't have the styrofoam box, and cold drinks remain cold, the WHOLE day. Lol~

We wanted to capture both of us jumping, but Mummy was cold and had her gloves off to take pictures for us so this was the only jump-attempt shot we have. Got 层次 hor like that? I like my sis' expression. Lol~~~

Water freezing!!! But only on the plant, creating some form of natural ice scupture. You can click on the picture for a clearer look.

Next we're brought to this place where you can view and feed bears. We didn't go in, but we got a good view of a young active volcano in Hokkaido -

It feels kinda scary and exciting to be right at the foot of an active volcano. I mean, how do you know for sure when it will explode? Winter cold...so won't la hor? #Likethatalsocan

Just outside the Bear Farm we saw 2 guys selling HUMONGOUS scallops!

Smells really good...will KIV for later. Go into the Bear Farm for some shopping first.

Feeding bears are not in our itinerary. We're here to get this supposedly very very good Horse Oil, which is excellent for moisturizing your skin. Horse Oil is famous in Hokkaido (maybe even the whole of Japan), and this one is ONLY available here. Show you guys in the next post!

OISHII DESU NE!!!

Taken at Odori Park. This is where the annual Ice Festival is held. We miss it by a week!!!! It's going to be on next week onwards!!!! ARGH!!!!! I heard that the Ice Festival is really beautiful, and ice sculptures will be carved and displayed here. I want to see~~~~~~ *sobs*

Head down the underground tunnel (the same entrance as the train station), and you will discover a shopping paradise that is independent of the weather (I like! Especially during mad crazy winter like this.)

This made me feel a bit better (only a slight bit) about not being able to witness the Ice Festival... Still...you know... ONE WEEK!!!

And the night ends with dinner with a piece of pork that is big enough to be a facial mask sheet.

Hokkaido for CNY!!!

Greetings from Hokkaido!!!

Flew off the first night of CNY. And gosh it was SNOWING like crazy today!!!! Mum & Sis' virgin snow experience so we were all really excited. Will show you guys pictures as SOON as I can okay? Hardly any free wifi areas here, and foreigners are not allowed to buy any Data Sim Cards in Japan. Can only borrow. I know! It's strange right? So at the end of the trip you still gotta return. Troublesome like mad. So no internet for me unless I'm lucky with the hotels.

BUT BUT BUT I promise I'll try to put up some pictures by tomorrow before I check out (changing hotels! Following package tours~ and we're changing like 4 different hotels in 6 days! *faints*).

It HAS got to be Jane Aldridge!!!

I was walking around Jakarta airport during transit to Jogjakarta for my "See the World" shoot, and, call it fate or whatever, but this book caught my eye, and I was drawn to it immediately:

I'm guessing it's Jane Aldridge herself who caught my eye.

I mean, look at her! She's so...how should I put it...pretty is not a good enough adjective...eye-catching? Yah she's so eye-catching!

So I bought the book, and when I got to the hotel, I started googling her, reading her blog, and have been a fan ever since.

I love the fact that she can have so many looks - girly, cool, chic, and elegant. And she is only 19!

In some ways she reminds me of Emma Watson. Not the looks per se, but her style, and that aura.

I really like this girl. She inspires me to dress up. =)

It took me a long time to consider if I should post this. And it's been days since we posted and removed and you reposted. And I took time to think. I was pissed, really really angry before, at your post. But I've since taken a beating from countless netizens, been called all kinds of names, been looked at differently from the people who know me, and I've calmed down, and cooled off. This post has been rewritten, without the initial anger.

I came across this question on my Formspring, asking if me and you can ever "go back". Your sister asked me too, if I still want to keep this friendship. Looking at the way things are, it's not really possible, is it? I understand your frustration at why you did what you did, and I hope you extend that same understanding to me. It all sparked off because I told people whom I wasn't really THAT close to that we drifted apart because of something that happened long ago which caused your boyfriend to stop liking you to hang out with me. If it were a best friend, someone close to my heart like you once was, I would have told them the whole story. But I didn't want to, because I am only human. Because relationships come in different levels - acquaintances, friends, close friends, lovers... It's fair that I don't reveal everything, is it not? 我不认识的人，我真的不需要解释那么多。But trust me that at the point of them asking about us, I strongly missed you.

Maybe I treated you as my BFF then (I don't really allow a lot of people that deep into me...), and maybe you didn't view me the same way. My pining for you as a friend that I'm losing (or perhaps have lost long ago, I just didn't know it) was genuine, and painful. It may sound warped, and some people may reaffirm the fact that I'm a psycho as I have been called by so many of you, but I'm glad you wrote that long long post. In a way, I would never have known you were so unhappy and displeased with me, with those jokes that I thought is alright to make with a "close friend". (Yes I am talking about that "Shit" incident. A close friend would have elbowed me really hard and then say in a joking tone "What!? It's interesting okay? More interesting than yours hor!" and we would have stared at each other then laughed. I'm sorry that I have failed to recognize that you don't see me the same way I saw you, and had offended you then.

To your post, I do have some things to clarify. Those of you who may think that I am once again being fake may leave. I do not owe you guys an explanation, but I owe her, myself, and our once-friendship one.

I never apologised for 3 years. - After I had dealt with the issue and finally faced you again, it was so long after. So long after that I had decided to put that past behind me (I've been taught to learn and move on, not dwell in it.) I really didn't know that you were STILL expecting an apology from me, because I didn't know you were still upset. And after I found out and pieced everything together, I apologised immediately, did I not? Only you know.

Next, the kids' show host thing. I really didn't want to care that I was one, but I was made to adhere to a certain code of conduct because I was doing a kids' show. I then got tired because I couldn't be me. Even blogging, and living my life my own terms started becoming stressful. Being an artiste meant that there IS a certain code of conduct to follow. Maybe that's why I'm "not popular as an artiste", because they don't like artistes who don't comply fully. And because I had to adhere to some form of those conduct while blogging, I couldn't blog freely all the time, which made me half-fucked as a blogger too. Yeah FML. So I didn't sign that hosting contract remember? Because being an artiste in Singapore doesn't pay the bills.

I really couldn't say anything vaguely vulgar on my blog then. Because my then-boss will come and tell me to watch my words or delete my posts. Shortly after, the time for recontract came and I chose not to sign it. Thus explaining my use of expletives in that post asking for my money back. I wasn't being a hypocrite by saying to you that I can't swear, then swear loudly on my post "THE VERY NEXT MINUTE". I'm really not a very good actress off-camera, you know. I am just human, like you. I get angry, like you would too.

I know you were angry, but bringing stuff that has nothing to do with this into your blog post to turn your readers against me, I don't really appreciate. Like my birthday wish list. Let's not forget that you have your Sponsorship wish list up first, shall we?

Then yes, that facial sponsorship. I didn't say "Yeah, it's not bad right? I mean.. Look at you, it's better than you having to do like what..? Five? Or Seven? Five to seven ads before you can earn the same amount", like you said I did. What I said was "Yeah it's not bad right? It's better than having to do like, 5-7 ads before we can earn the same amount". I don't think I said "you"? If I did I meant we. I was already doing blog ads then, and I was charging about the same rate as you for ads then. I said I can't do blogshop ads because I'm an artiste? Where did you get that??? Just because you thought I said something like that doesn't mean I actually did. I said I couldn't do blogshop modelling because I was still trying to position myself. It's a fine line to thread, please try to understand. Even though I was a "half-fucked actress" like what some people says, you still hardly see actresses modelling for blogshops, isn't it? That was 1.5 years ago, I was trying to understand the media, the audience, how things should be because there isn't a manual for artistes who blog. I now have a better understanding through trial and error though, and this is no longer a concern because I no longer see myself as an actress. (You wouldn't imagine 张曼玉 or Shu Qi doing blogshop modelling would you?) Local artistes have a slightly different market positioning I suppose, due to the market size. And I accept that.

I NEVER once said that you went and got closer to D and STOLE the endorsement from me. Where did that come from? I only said that D called me to rope you in for the endorsement! I don't care if she emailed you first or called me first. But that was what she told me, that she is now working at this facial company and she's thinking of doing a bloggers' thing with me and, and suggested to bring you in as well. I now wonder what she told whom, but it doesn't matter now I suppose? Just stop saying that I lied to everyone about how you went to get closer to D so that you can clinch the deal. I did nothing of the sort. And after the endorsement started, of course I felt weird that you didn't invite me for any of their events. How would I know that you hated me so much even then? You showed nothing. No, you pretended and acted like all was fine. In this case you're probably a greater actress than I am. Me as an actress, sure, I can pretend when the camera is rolling. Me in real life REALLY can't do that. I won't bother being nice if I don't like you. 我的性格一直就是那样 - 是就是，不是就不是。Simple as that. (In case you think about Wendy now, I'll deal with that later.)

Next. The boob job. When I didn't go ahead with the procedure in the end due to problems with my manager, I really felt that 我对不起你，because you roped me in and I had agreed to do my lipo with your boob job together. I wanted to do liposuction badly too, and I argued with my management many times over it. I felt really sorry, and spoke to Gillian, and the doctor, about it. I know how much doing that boob job meant to you, and I wanted you to still be able to get the procedure done because I was really worried that they might cancel it because I pulled out. Because the ops were meant to be done so that we could film BIB2. So I thought okay, if I can't do the op, maybe I can still write about it so that everyone (Click, the doctor, you) still gets coverage, even though I had a miserable 700 hits at the time like you said. I felt like it was something I owe everyone, because everyone thought we were both going ahead with this, and I pulled out so last minute. It was NOT BECAUSE I WANTED TO BLOG ABOUT IT FOR THE HITS.

You can say I am fake and that I am trying to act noble, but thinking about myself was the LAST thing on my mind then. Was I upset that I couldn't be involved? Of course I was! We had agreed to write about each other's procedure as a whole, REMEMBER? (Don't say that it's weird for me to write about your boob job, okay? The whole thing was FILMED. How unequally-weird was that then?) That was why I didn't understand why I was being left out. But I was glad that you finally got the procedure done. I was really happy for you because you had talked about always feeling like a man without boobs. "I'm disappointed that I didn't get to sit in and help you blog about it, but I'm still happy for you." True feelings, both of them.

We were trying to help each other with blog hits. Just like how you roped me in for Milly's/BIB2/everything else, I did what I could for you too. Whoever asked me for a blogger who can do this/that, I always brought up your name. I even went on forums to promote your blog. No I don't need you to say you didn't ask me to. I did it because I wanted to. I know you had financial difficulties. And blog hits mean a lot, because higher hits meant more exposure, and you could charge more for your ads. This applies to all bloggers. When I started blogging for STomp I had told the editor to take a look at your blog because you're very pretty and funny and you write well. I wanted them to engage you as well because at least there is some income. I really did my part for you too. Please don't dismiss me as selfish the way you did.

My link on your side bar? I DM,Whatsapped, msn you time and again to put it up?? We talked about the links, and you told me to send a picture to you, so I did. I MOST DEFINITELY DID NOT ask you repeatedly to put up my link. I remember I was on that sidebar for quite a while (and not one week like you said). And I appreciated you putting it up. I really appreciated because it really helped me with my little amount of traffic then. You told me that some people, especially this boy, kept asking you link them up on your blog, that's why you removed all of them. And not because of me. Why are you\saying that it's because of me now? Or perhaps it WAS me but you just didn't say it in my face then. I would have wished that you were more direct, dear. I had no idea, because you still presented yourself to be a friend.

The watermarking. Ah~ Here's the thing. Those pictures photoshopped by you? I only watermarked them because they were pictures on my blog and I didn't want other people to use them anyhow. But I WROTE THAT THOSE PICTURES WERE PHOTOSHOPPED BY YOU, AND THAT I WAS AMAZED AT YOUR PHOTOSHOP SKILLS. You need a refresher? Come, here it is.

See them? I'm guessing you were too mad at me, and already have so much unhappiness with regards to me, that everything I did, you thought otherwise.

Adonis - maybe D presented herself differently to both of us. Maybe something went wrong. But the impression she gave me was that she knew me, and wanted me to rope you in. Was I wrong to feel that you were ungrateful after you decided to not talk to me nor invite me for their events? Put yourself in my shoes.

Budget Barbie - sure that show was yours. It really belongs to you, and I mean it. Would they know that you were great at sourcing out cheap stuff? I thought that was a really great talent and when I told Gillian she was really interested and I saw a spark in her eye. She told me they have something like that in mind for a long time and was looking for someone who could do that. Tell me my suggestion to her did NOTHING. That you were already famous for being able to buy chio things less than $10, for hardly ever spending money on things even if they were $10. That she would already have known. Maybe. And maybe not.

I told people I had more readership than you???? I always knew you had higher readership! I don't have to compare readership to you. I don't have to compare readership with a friend. I do need a friend who has been blogging for a longer period than me to tell me what's the going rate for blogshop ads for any particular stats. I really needed a reference and I looked up to you for information. Why did it come across to you that I was being competitive?

YES I GENUINELY THOUGHT SHE LOOKED PRETTY THAT NIGHT, AND THAT SHE IS GOOD. I was proud of her when she won BECAUSE SHE REPRESENTED SINGAPORE. Was that being fake too?

That said, I don't have to suck up to her, and love and agree with everything she does or says. You even agreed with her comment on Alvinology by saying Mint cleared the food. Did you even remember what happened? I'm definitely not the best person to say this because I wasn't even there, right? But it seemed this incident Wendy brought up didn't even happen. Because other than Mint, someone else ALSO remembered the actual incident very clearly! We were talking about studio filming, and she went to clear a leaf on the studio floor. Unless you guys were eating leaves on the floor?

Do you really remember, or were you just trying to stand up for what Xiaxue says? Don't assume that Mint didn't feel anything that day, or that I am being hypersensitive. Unless you talked to her about it, how would you know for sure?

For those of you who thinks that I am trying to drag Mint in, I really am not. To begin with, the whole story began with a passing comment between a person-to-person conversation. I'm sure Wendy's used to people talking about her. Why would she care about what I said??? And seriously, I really wonder how it got there and then here? -.-"

I support her, but I don't idolize her the way you do. I don't have to agree with everything she does because I still have a mind of my own. Btw, I called her 女王, not 女神. Queen, not goddess, for the record? I really don't like being misrepresented. She IS the Queen of Bloggers, and I think no one can challenge what I said. (Maybe that's why she can choose whoever she wants to execute?) I don't support blindly. I think I can keep support for her work and everything else apart. Btw, tell me which line is not true:

I'm backstabbing her? She IS short, but she does have gorgeous pink hair that I even tell my mother about. I mean, that her hair still looks so good even after she's bleached them so many times? That is something.

I said she was arrogant? I said she gives people an arrogant vibe sometimes (which may not mean that she is. It's easy to miss a few words and have it turn out a different meaning altogether, I know.). But look, she's XIAXUE, she is entitled to that. People would say Divas feel arrogant, doesn't mean they are. I didn't say she was always hostile to me, because she did smile at me during NAPBAS. No, she was never arrogant to me. Not once have I said that. What I DID say, is that she does have this aura which makes people not dare to really go near her.

Mental note to self: I have to remember that not everyone is friendly and will talk to anyone like I would. Or that will get me into trouble, or risk being called a two-faced bitch.

Things said between us both, you keep them there like how you might with Wendy/Sophie's conversations with you. Or maybe you wouldn't and use those against them too should you guys fall out? So scary.

The 2D-3D thing was a discussion topic. Call it a marketing speech or whatever, I only meant to say that I want to remain real in my blog, like it/believe it or not.
Alexa and that your blog is doing better than mine? I meant things plainly, I was not comparing. I also said Wendy is really the TOP blogger because her blog is the FIRST individual website that is on that list. Just a random topic of conversation.

Why did you say all the things you did? I treated you as a friend, I talked to you as one, and I told you things as one. 这些东西我跟你讲的，你讲出来做什么？And are they really relevant? Perhaps to you they were relevant score points, in painting me in that light.

Comments made about you and Wendy and me are not my trophies. I don't care if they put me down or put you down or put whoever on the pedestal okay? Whatever people said, I just approved and let people judge for themselves. I insinuated no shit. I don't just publish the pro-Silver and anti-qq/xx comments, I APPROVED COMMENTS THAT SAID SHIT ABOUT ME TOO. Maybe not all of them because some of them mentioned other people, or I needed to consider the feelings of these other people too. For that little birdy that emailed you, I did not approve because D was not a married man, and the married man I dated, I never knew he was. It wasn't even a logical comment to start with, why should I approve? I'm sorry that I approved nasty comments about you and Wendy, I was really pissed at the time, but they have all been removed. All the comments have been removed, and I will appreciate it if no one hurls insults at anyone of the parties involved.

I agreed that I came across as a less-than-nice person to you unintentionally. And I said sorry. I apologized. I apologized. And I apologized. I was truly sincere in my apologies. Were they in my previous posts? They were. Were they in that conversation we had before? They were. You said you gave me many chances, but you really didn't. You gave me chances in your own head, because I never even knew about my misdeeds. Then when you told me everything at one shot, you may have already poisoned yourself against me so much that no matter what I said, wouldn't mean anything anymore.

I told you most of the things I did because I trusted you. That I thought you were a friend. I had no idea that you thought me annoying. But we DO tell our closest friends the rawest thoughts, don't we? I just didn't realize that you had already felt differently towards me, that we've drifted so far apart.

All I did was explain to people why we don't talk anymore, in the easiest way I know how (Sorry I'm not that great a storyteller as you...with all the sound effects. I wouldn't say that much to people I don't really know that well.), and you got so angry that you wrote such a long post to diss me? Never mind, then animate what I went through with sound effects? What is wrong with you? You can read my letter to you again. I was being sincere. If you still choose to think it's all fake and crocodile tears, there's nothing I can do. I tried.

Trust me, I have said sorry, so many many times even before this thing exploded. Did you once ever forgive me?

Can we ever "go back"? Perhaps not, though we will never know.You can continue seeing me the way you do, but that is not the purpose of my writing this post.

It's the first day of the Lunar New Year, and I heard this term called Soul Prosperity yesterday. It talks about prospering when you confess and forsake the wrongs you have done.

I wish Soul Prosperity for myself, and for everyone else, involved in this saga or not. Soften your hearts, and you can have more. I was angry and my heart did harden a few days ago. But I have decided to soften mine. New year, a time for new beginnings. That very last baggage has been taken out. May we live our lives well, whether with or without each other, shall we?

A Letter to a Dear Friend

This is addressed to Qiuting, and although this letter post may expose my vulnerability for the whole world to see, and perhaps judge, I feel that I need to get this off my chest. I mentioned that this blog represents who I am, that it is not just a commercial blog. I started this blog this way, and I hope I keep elements of myself here even as readership grows. Other than blogging for you readers, essentially, I'm blogging for myself. Years later, when I look back at the posts herein, I know they are factual representations of my being at that particular point in time...

Too many things have happened recently, and between us. Honestly, I'll repeat myself - I don't even know what the hell happened. I treat you as a friend. I always have, and no matter what has happened before, I always will.

I know I've said on Twitter that I am not going to bother anymore, that I have tried hard enough and I need to leave some self-respect for myself lest people say I "beg" for your friendship. But you have a soft spot in me. Enough for me to pen this down. Enough for me to still drop tears as I write these words. Enough for me to inscribe a proper (it's painful to type this) closure.

Yutaki meant only good intention, for us to be friends again, or at least, be normal. (Let's admit it, even after we have "cleared the air" 3 months ago, subsequent times meeting you remained awkward, though I try.) That's why he came to talk to you, because he thought me and you are like him and Eric. And I am sure he did not say things the way you went on and told Wendy - thus resulting in that minidrama which has been going on. Wendy wasn't even supposed to be involved. I'm SURE Yutaki is not like that, he's a genuinely nice person as we all know. Why then did you have to go and say weird stuff to Wendy about my passing remarks (which sparked off her shooting at me on Twitter) when so many people say all kinds of things about Wendy anyway? (Are you going to report every little thing you hear about what people say about her?) Anyway, I'm done saying my piece about that incident. (And for all others reading this, I really DON'T care if Wendy is interested to befriend me or not okay? Don't assume you know everything.) And I still don't understand why you got so worked up when Yutaki said I told him we don't hang out anymore because your bf doesn't like me because of that bout of depression 5 years ago. I said it was because of a something bad that happened because of depression, NOT because I had depression. I remember I was careful how I worded it.

Sure I know you don't want people to think "Oh what the fuck is wrong with her boyfriend? Don't like Silver because she had depression???" because you are protective. But that was not what I meant. I said I don't get why he FORBIDS you to hang out with me ("Sure you can, but if you do, you are going against me" - his words yes? That's forbidding right?) after that. That I will kill you if I "keexiao" again? Or bring you to jump off a building with me? Or spread my hysterics to you? (That was where the "Depression is contagious meh?" came from.)

Remember that night when we were on msn, you said you were talking to your bf trying to tell him to clear the air with me? Remember? Then you said he doesn't even want to bother. And you told me actually he's very stubborn like that, that if he doesn't like you he won't even try. And that he even treats some of your own family members like that. REMEMBER??? Then I said it'd be very difficult for us to hang out, and you said "It's okay we still got blogger events" (which remained awkward, like I said).

Why then did you turn around and say I insinuated weird stuff about your boyfriend??? Why do you misinterpret me like, all the time now? People ask me about us because they care. People tell you what I've told them because they care. Please don't twist my words all around, please? I tell them stuff because it matters enough for me to say them. You said I "purposely left out the details". Did it occur to you that I may not have told them the whole grandmother story in DETAIL because I don't know them well enough to say soooooo much so I just summarized the story in brief? Not because I want to say bad things or "spin stories". I'm not that kind of person, don't you know?

To me, your boyfriend remains a challenge and a tough nut to crack, and I really want to try and make things right and come with all sincerity and peace because I LOVE YOU ENOUGH AS A FRIEND. He won't budge, I know. Sure, I think he is petty, for someone his age. After all, things happened 5 years ago. I was young, I didn't know how to handle unfaithful men. (Trust me, I'm sick of meeting such men. If God exists, I hope he brings me the decent man every woman should deserve, next.) I had such severe depression that I was hysterical - I showed you the most vulnerable side of me. I tried to drive you home though I was not in the proper state of mind to. I went almost to the extent of going mad. And your bf tried to pin me down, and trust me, try pinning ANY hysterical person down, and they will fight back, so I bit him. I did not mean to hurt him or leave a mark on his finger, trust me, I'm not psycho. It was plainly a self-defense reflex. Then you said you tried to call me for months and I never picked up your calls, to the extent that you had to call my source of depression (how ironic right? I know...) to find out if I was okay. I was really dealing with myself, and can I say this - I was ashamed to face you.

I've never said it to you before, but I was ASHAMED to face you after all the drama and all the weakness I have displayed to you and your bf. I know you care, I always knew you did. And I appreciate every little bit of that. But I couldn't bring myself to speak to you yet then. And if it came across that I thought it was your fault all those things happened and that's why your boyfriend forbade you to hang out with me after, I can see where he's coming from. It has been 5 years. I know he does it because he loves you, but he needs to understand about forgiveness. I'm not saying he MUST forgive, but I have said sorry, so many times...

Years have passed, so many drifts have happened, Adonis (thanks to the girl who wanted me to rope you into the endorsement then try to stir things up between us; and perhaps my unintentional insensitivity towards you), Bored in Bikinis 2 which didn't happen (trust me, I wanted to do that with you really really badly then, but I couldn't), the Boob Job incident when I asked why you didn't let me know you went already because we agreed I'd help to write about it and bring readership to you up (our readership was on par then, and it was seriously not because I wanted to write about it, but really more of me wanting to help and being disappointed you left me out of it, then I found out your bf didn't want me there)...then so many other things which happened which really, wasn't meant to be interpreted the way you did. I wished you had just confronted me the moment you felt uncomfortable with anything I said, whether I meant them that way or not. Things wouldn't have turned out this way then.

And maybe I became too sensitive, but somehow I feel that after Click and becoming BFF with Wendy, you have changed, not the same Qiuting I knew before. This doesn't just apply to me. I hear the same from a lot of other people who used to love you. I hear nasty things about you becoming Wendy's sidekick and shadow and just plain agreeing with everything Wendy says. You even shoot your mouth off on Twitter (even at me wth???) and blog in almost the exact same fashion she does. Many are going to flame me for being a jealous girlfriend, but I'm not. I'm really not. I don't want you to lose yourself. Maybe it's me being selfish, but I don't want to lose seeing Qiuting being replaced with a Wendy-replica. You're too precious to be lost, you know that?

I know things are not the same for us, and I'm happy for you that Wendy, whom you used to idolize about so much, is now a good friend of yours. And I'm sure you're still the same person to your family and Mich and Zhen and all those people who have been good friends with you for the longest time. I just want you to know that I hope you remain that sweet, friendly, funny girl I remember from my fondest memories of you.

Please know that whatever happened before, you still hold a dear place in my heart. Many people don't know we were good friends before, and kept asking me if we were friends. The nights we spent chatting, crying, talking about your jerk ex-bf, mine, then you meeting and telling me about your current bf, staying over at your place, 7-11 at Bencoolen, Mustafa, riding through Desker on your Dad's trishaw, and that little day out for our photoshoot...I remember them dearly, now with a tinge of sadness. You may not give a damn about this now, but once again, and publicly, I offer my apologies for the times I may have mishandled the friendship. Not once have I meant it, not once have I meant to put you down.. I don't know why you interpreted things that way. Maybe you were too sensitive, maybe I was insensitive, maybe both, but this is where our friendship is now - brittle and crumbly. Sure it hurts, I never fail to cry when I think about us, and it's not because I am not "an adult" like you tweeted, but because I am human, and you matter too much. Please don't say such horrible things anymore.

You chose to end the friendship, and a friendship takes two to tango. No mention will be given should anyone ever ask again. "Us" shall be buried, not because I don't want to remember it, but because it is painful to relive those memories. They will still be kept within the distant realms of my being, because they are impossible to forget.

I'm sorry things turned out this way. I apologise not just to you, but to myself for losing this friendship. I know I may have lost you for good, but please know this - you are dear to me, no matter how far we have drifted. I'm always here, should you ever ever need someone and there is no one to turn to (I hope that never happens to you though). I wish you well.

SSparkle Home: Makeup Shelf Reorganization

To begin the start of the year right, I went to Muji with Hagen and Angeline and got these:

I really really need to organize my makeup shelf because if you notice, if you don't see the items, you will never use them. Currently my makeup shelf just looks like this:

Like, yeah, everything is in that basket. And needless to say, it is all in a mess. I was so excited to clean it up and use my new Muji drawers that I didn't take a closeup picture of the original mess. Lol.

To summarize, this is what it looks like now:

Am now happy that I can see at a glance all my eyeshadow colours without messing and plowing through the whole basket. And mascaras, palettes, eyeliners etc, all have a place now.

Obviously this is not complete. Wanted to get this but it was out of stock:

Thanks to a message in my sidebar, I read a recent tweet Xiaxue addressed to me. (In case you're wondering, I'm not the kind who scrolls through the entire timeline to see what people tweet about.)

I find some people in her life boring too ( I don't want to mention names), so she can stop making it seem like she only makes friends with Interesting people.

That aside.

You know, I really really look up to her as a blogger, and I have followed her blog through the years. When people say Xiaxue is crap or whatever negative comments about her and her blogging, trust me, I have defended her. I think she's good at her work, she's sometimes funny, has real creativity and puts real effort into her ads, and I like that she has character.

Except...

Let's just say having character and being nonsensically fiesty are 2 different things.

Sure, she shoots off her mouth when she has an opinion. And in many ways, I guess that's good. Since that tweet was addressed to me directly without @mention (guess she didn't want to "help bring me traffic"), I'll take it. Better than people who talk about you behind your back right? But I would appreciate it if she could do so in a not-so-expletive way.

I have tried not to confront her directly about many things, not because I just want to talk or tweet or write about it behind her back, but because I just want to let it pass. I just talk to friends, or people who are close to me, about my personal opinions towards people. N not publicly talk bad about people. If there's nothing good to say, keep your fingers locked (in the blogging world).

The first time I met her in person was at a Nuffnanger's CNY house-gathering. And we were all seated in a circle playing cards. It was an awkward first meeting because I went "Hello Xiaxue!", and she was like "Eh hi." like we already knew each other and had an awkward history together or something. Maybe it was just me being sensitive, but that was an awkward introduction. No doubt there was a game of cards to keep things distracted, but it was...well...weird nevertheless. Perhaps it was just me, I don't know.

Maybe that was the beginning of a bad start. Plus at that time Qiuting was starting to be good friends with her (trust me I was really happy for her then, because I knew for a long time that XX was Qiu's idol, and for her to actually get to be friends with her? That was something, right?), and me and Qiuting were going through a not-so-great patch of misunderstandings. Maybe they talked about me as a topic between friends, or maybe not, but subsequent encounters with Qiu and XX have not been un-awkward.

I'll let those pass.

Anyway, sometime last year, during the Olay campaign? Now this is a fact so you can't say that I am spreading lies. Mint called me a few times to say that she was really uncomfortable being in the production. She told me many times that she'd feel like The Clique would make people feel ostracised because the other bloggers/people are "not in their league". I said she felt that way. Maybe it's not, but it was that kinda vibes that came through, not just to Mint, but according a few other "not-as-huge" bloggers as well.

I mean, hello? Everyone is in the same production and campaign. There were only 8 bloggers plus Wendy as the host. Some togetherness please? A genuine attempt to bond? No? Sure, some people may be "boring" to them (thanks ah -.-"), but I think not judging before you actually know someone is actually important.

So the ultimatum which got me a bit turned off (probably unnoticed by Wendy because she can sometimes be so insensitive and thick) was something like this (I wasn't there so I can't exactly remember the exact sequence of events):

Because Mint has been in the production industry (she has been an assistant producer/director before), she would actually take the initiative to help prepare the site for the shoot. Like she would help the rest arrange their clothes, help clean up, or arrange the chairs and stuff. That's like really nice right? Then there was like a leaf or something on the floor of the studio and she went to help remove it. Either Mint or someone went “职业病” , and then Wendy said something that totally threw some people off:

"哈？她的职业是什么？清洁工人啊？"

In a totally sarcastic manner. And her group laughed.

It may seem like nothing to you, or them, but bear in mind that The Clique already has a presence that is quite overpowering, thus making people feel smaller than them already. For someone who felt that way, being put down further by The Queen in the group is actually kinda...you know...like all forms of respect for that person has been torn off, bitten, and spat out. Okay maybe not that serious. But you know what I mean.

Wendy, this is addressed to you, because I know someone will tell you about it and you WILL come and read this:

Mint is someone who is generally nice and helpful and friendly and very accomodating, and I say it not just because I am her friend and godsis, but from the bottom of my heart. I mean, it's really fine if you're saying that to people in your group as a joke, but Mint hardly knows you.

And I hardly know you, so don't say that I am a Psycho Attention-seeking Cunt can? *hurt*
I mean, well, all women (and perhaps men) have the potential to be psycho (that includes you), and who's calling who attention-seeking? I don't have pink hair. I am who I am, and I generally remain low-key when I head out, whether I get attention or not. I only do it on the times I need to, that's my job. And Cunt? If you mean woman, you have one too. I don't call you weird names, so please be nice.

I didn't really mean that you are arrogant, though sometimes you may make people feel that you are.I did say that I think you are very nice to your own friends. Guess what someone said - "no leh, last time she got one friend she fell out with, like ended up quite bad also. Like she will also make use of her friends one.". I did say this "可能我对她没有利用价值咯" as a response though. But it was really a passing remark. Which is true anyway right?

The pleasantries I extended to you on the times we have met are genuine. Although each time I do it I find it extremely, tediously hard to get through that wall you have erected around yourself and your friends. (A tinge of arrogance vibes there, even if you may not have meant it, & I apologise if I have mistaken you.) Yes, I even find it awkward to talk to Qiuting when she is with you, and that is a fact that somehow disappears when it's just me and her speaking online. =(

Learn how to respect other people, even BORING ones, if you will. Sometimes people ARE genuine with you, it's whether you choose to open yourself up to see that.

I still like you and your blog, and this post was just meant to clear things up. I don't need to be hard up and try so hard to be your friend - if you are meant to be, you will be. But I won't close myself up to you should fate arrange for it one day.

P.S. I'm not an angel myself, and can be insensitive at times too. Unintentionally. And for those of you reading, if you are someone I have offended before, I apologize.

It's 2012, a new year, and I thought I should start a new project. Ready for this?
Oh gosh I am so excited!

Here goes....

I'll be calling all my themed blogposts Silver Sparkles, with SSparkle Glam being the fashion, beauty and makeup magatorial on ThatSilverGirl! By Magatorial I really mean it. It's the kind of post which you can bookmark and come back then finish another time simply because you may not be able to finish reading everything at one go. It'll feature advice, reviews, ads, thoughts, anything, as long as it's beauty, fashion and makeup related, it's all here. =D

And travelogues will be called SSparkle Sights, interesting hangouts and places to go under SSparkle Rendezvous, and SSparkle Noms about food. There will also be a segment for Home Improvement / household-related posts called SSparkle Home (in singular tense because there is only one home).

I wanted to call it SSparkling Glam, SSparkling Sights, SSparkling Rendezvous, SSparkling Noms,and SSparkling Home but it's a tad more difficult to pronouce. How? You help me decide and leave a comment and then I'll do as you say.

This new change is exciting, yes? It's also to make my blog more organized, so you know which Silver Sparkle mag to click for what reads. I'm a genius! 2012 is starting out very well for me. ^.^

COMB, SHUNJI MATSUO WISMA ATRIA

First things up, let's show you my very last hair appointment with Comb 2 months back. *gasps* Yes it's been forever since I went to do any treatment/cut/colour/anything, and I'm just relying heavily on my hair serums and hair mask to do the caregiving for my hair.

Let's start with a very pretty picture:

I love how natural light always makes pictures look amazing~

I'd freshly done my makeup in the car and looked all ready and fresh for the world. Except my hair is slightly messy in the can't-be-bothered-to-do-anything-to-it style. And my hair colour was so bah~ I really really wanted a change.

- Hair Colour + Treatment + 3 hours later -

I have never been a fan of heading to salons for hair colouring, simply because I can't sit still for so long. For years I love colouring my own hair at home. While waiting for the colour to set, you can walk around the house, watch tv, pack the room, study, do whatever, and it usually takes 30 minutes max. Plus mixing the colour and developer, application, then washing off, the whole process would just take like, 1 hour? 1.5hrs MAX.

Compare that to having to dress up to head out and travel to your stylist (unless you live just upstairs, and in this case the nearest "upstairs" residence would be Ion Residences yo?), then sitting there for 3 hours (on average it takes about there...), then having to endure all kinds of bodily smells on the public transport home...A 5-6 hours' procedure???

The only reason I'll do it? Comb (and sometimes Hagen & Angeline - they do hair too btw).

Gosh I really feel like I'm doing a shampoo TVC.

Look! 2 tones! I mean, I've done highlights before, but not a 2-tone like this! *swakoo*

Yeah I know, people are having blonde and pink and purple hair and here I am fussing about 2-tone colours. But hey, I was still filming "See the World" and I couldn't do really loud colours. And I've hardly gotten the chance to really experiment with colours*, so this was great for me! When I tied up half my hair, the part untied would be light brown, and if I let down my hair, it's now-you-see-it-now-you-don't!

*Optometrists had to look "professional", so no bright colours were allowed back in SP days. Then SQ had this thing about looking Asian and elegant - one had to produce a doctor's certification if one had naturally brown hair. After SQ, acting required me to be someone else, so that actually just translates to = I don't have many chances to do REALLY loud colours, though it's on my to-do for 2012. *wink*

Snap off all the yucky hair ends!

Okay maybe not all....leave some alone or my hair will be really short. Lol~

And I'm finally done!

Nice right? I told him I really wanted to keep my length so he didn't really get to chop off all the ends that he wanted to, but this is great already! My hair is NOT rebonded okay. It's just naturally really straight after the treatment and blowdry. And the leave-in hair serum he used on my hair which smelt REALLY nice.

You will almost never get this result if you D-I-Y-ed at home. I mean, LOOK AT THIS!!!! If I could capture touch I'll make you touch it now because it was SOOOOOOOOO soft and smooth!!! 3 hours? Worth every minute. I'll guai guai sit there even if it's 4-5 hours, if my hair can get this result.

Note: Do not wash your hair 36-48 hours after your professional hair treatment. The treatment is still working on your hair even after they've washed it off. My hair felt really smooth even after my first shampoo following this treatment.

I couldn't stop touching my hair after I got home that day. Lol~

I seriously cannot resist this...but I'm gonna say it or I will die of internal injury...

And then I realized Comb's name can be interpreted as a noun just like mine. So it sounds like I rely on a comb to make my hair nice. But just so you know, I almost never comb my hair. I just don't have that habit.

And for the past 1.5 years, I've placed my hair under Comb's care, and he has never let me down. Not as a friend, nor as a stylist, or eyecandy. Lol~ Thumbs up!

2011 END-OF-YEAR LOOKS

Last month had been a month of parties and events, and there were so many days I got to dress up for!

(In case you're wondering, I stay at home, or chill out with friends a lot. And I'm usually in jeans.)

What I wore for Xmas 201. Housewarming party at my Aunt's, followed by a wedding dinner.

I just felt like it. Well, it was Wawa Pictures' Annual Company End-of-Year Dinner, and I know I didn't really have to, but it was held at Marina Mandarin, and hey, dinners at hotels are ALWAYS good excuses for dressing up! This is my favourite get-up of December 2011. Actually, I think it's one of my favourites so far. It's a look I've never tried, and I liked it.

FIT SOLUTION FRANZ DE PARIS RELAUNCH

Speaking about recreating looks, I'm putting myself on a challenge to take this health and beauty (generally overall health and nutrition) drink every single day for 2 months, such that at the end of 2 months, my skin can meet everyone without foundation. (The mere thought of it makes me excited already.)

Sorry I took so long to say hello, 2012. But I'm here. And I am here to review my 2011, and what I have achieved...

1. Acted in UMMI 2, BFF, Rescue 995, and of course, who could forget Vyjayanthi? That is my biggest role yet in my career as an artiste, and it was a really successful one. Thank you Eagle Vision, as well as all the production people for Suria shows, for all the opportunities bestowed upon me.

2. I had my first solo hosting programme - See the World. An edutainment programme which took 6 months to shoot due to kids' scheduling issues (filming during school holidays only!), I learnt a lot a lot a lot, together with the children. It's airing now, actually. Watch See the World every Sunday (that's today!!!!) at 11am, on Channel 8.

3. That said, it means I've done 5 shows this year!!!! Completed one 2011 Resolution (No. 6)!!!!

4. I also hosted 2 weddings successfully this year. For different friends. And received good feedback from some of the audience and couples! You had no idea how worried I was that I might screw up someone's wedding! Thank god they all went well! I cohosted one with Mint where we also did a live band performance too! Anyone getting married and is keen to engage me and Godsis Mint for your All-Important-Day, drop me an email! I LOVE WEDDINGS & FAIRY TALES!!! ;)

5. That Biker Chick was officially set up in July, checking off another 2011 Resolution (No. 3)!!!! I know the site looks a bit -bah- now, and there have been no updates for a while with hiccups and long waits from the PSB (Hello? Efficiency ppl!!!! Or was it true when Lillian Too said I shouldn't go into business in 2011?) But rest assured, 2012 is a potentially good year for me, and I have new stuff coming up in a few days, very very soon!!! Yippee!!!!

6. I have been eating with my family a lot more regularly. Didn't really check if it's once a week, but I think it's about there, when everyone has time. So check one more! (No. 9!)

7. I finally became an official Apple user, starting with the iPod Nano, and then the iPhone, and the iPad2 for my birthday last year. Now, next on my wishlist? A 21.5" iMac, thank you very much! ^.^ #SuperNotShy...lol~

8. Despite having lesser shows than last year (I had 9), I did quite a number of MTV shoots this year!

2. Bring Alton to have his health checked, and cataracts removed. This MUST be done this year.

Can you see that the inside of his eyes, especially the right one, is blur? His lens is cloudy already, that's cataract for you, and needs to be removed for Alton to regain clear vision.

His left eye is slightly better, but is showing signs of it as well..

Any good doctor to recommend? I don't want the super overpriced ones hor. Expensive doesn't mean they're good.

My poor baby...Mummy really owes you. I promise to bring you to get that white stuff removed by March okay? *hugs*

5. Blog at least ~~once every 3 days~~ twice a week.

And it doesn't include advertorials. It has to have content, and not done just for the sake of having a post up there. This is a great feat to accomplish, considering how my schedule will look like, but I will not let my blog 生草 (grow weeds). Never.

You know I really really want to update almost every day like I used to...being a full-time blogger and not acting/singing anymore...how? No?

Drama, movie, telemovie, variety... I hope to to start getting heavier roles...at least supporting la...not the cameo-appear-short-while-only kind that takes not more than a week to film... so 5 is a good number to start with? I'm doing a lead role character in 1 now...so that's 4 more to go. 子惠！你可以的！！！

7. Finally learning and actually playing the guitar.

I hope to be able to start performing with a guitar by 2011, so if you see me on stage anywhere doing it, you'll know I'd have put a check next to this goal. ;)

8. Dance 2-3x a week despite my busy schedule.

I will never again feel pain when I do splits or bend down to touch my toes. And I will NOT let my health dwindle ever again, and I will banish all cellulite from the back of my thighs. Watch me.

After CNY I'm gonna sign up for dance classes again. Anyone wanna join me? Comecomecome the more the merrier!!!

9. Eat with a family member once a week.

Either Mum or Sis la. I eat with Alton almost all the time. Mum works and has her own very busy work and social circle. Same goes for me. Sis is turning 16 and you can only guess how colourful her life is going to be from in the near future. Even being able to eat at home together will be great, considering the fact that my family doesn't have a I-cook-you-all-come-home-eat culture.

This has been accomplished, but I will keep it up for 2012. ^.^

10. I will be drinking 2 litres of water DAILY.

Because I want to have great skin and look like a million bucks even when I'm famous and successful.

This is a big goal okay. Guess how much water I drink a day right now. Guess la~

Usually about 1 glass. Yah I think I'm blessed with good skin too. And you can guess how come I have constipation issues....

I NO LONGER HAVE CONSTIPATION ISSUES!!!!!! I have this shitlog app to keep track of when I shat. And look!!!

This was my regular pooping routine. Yes, it can sometimes be once a week. Very toxic, carrying a week's waste matter around, to the extent that I sometimes joke with my friends that I am literally "Full of Shit".

I started taking the drink sometime in mid December, and look at the difference!

I took the drink primarily for health purposes, and the smooth bowel movement was just one of the many benefits that came as a bonus! Wee~~~ No more F.O.S!

11. Put everything back after I use them.

I am working on this, and it is well under way. I am always looking for better ways to organize my room and I've finally gotten a proper clue. Buying some drawers from Muji & Ikea to help me with this. =D Will do a vlog on the whole process!

That is actually a lot to be done! But rest assured I WILL get ALL. Of. THEM. DONE. Just you watch. 2012, I'll be riding you like a pro!

A New Year, New Beginnings

The year started out very interesting, with me being in Guangzhou promoting healthcare and then coming back only to find my luggage missing from the conveyor belt. Good thing that came out of it is that I made some friends with the staff at SATS Lost and Found. Lol~

It's always good to remain positive, no matter what happens. Not once did I really mope about my luggage being missing. I even went to the zoo the next day to celebrate Godsis Mint's birthday, and to help her bf with his wedding proposal.

OMG!!!

Yeah you heard me right!

Mint is now officially someone's fiancee!!! Congratulations my dearest!!!! Jackie is someone you can keep, I can vouch for that. ;) And oh, Jackie! If you are reading this, know that we are watching you, so don't even think about hurting Mint alright? Also, Mint gets really annoyed when you curse at other drivers, so try to curse less, okay? Or use less crude swear words, like "你香蕉长在脸上啊！" or "红毛丹啦你！" or something totally random, or funny. At least the person hearing you swear can laugh. Lol~

And as for Mint, be nicer to Jackie yo? 他真的很疼你哟~ You know it. ^.^

I will post pictures and the proposal video as soon as I have them consolidated and edited, so that you guys can share in the joy!

That aside, how did I spend my New Year's Eve?

I bought these the moment I reached Guangzhou, because they were so pretty in the dark!

I just left them on and they'll automatically change colours. This would symbolise that my 2012 will be filled with colours~!!! 多姿多彩！！！

I bought 3. 1 for myself, the other 2 were for my sisters Mint and Huixian. May all 3 of us have a 七彩缤纷 year(s) ahead! Despite all changing seasons, situations, whatever, we will still shine beautifully. \^.^/

I'm excited just thinking about it. Heehee~~ 2012, I'm sure you have many exciting things coming my way!!!

And I swear this is totally accidental and unplanned. But at Pink Parlour's Grand Opening at Santa Grand 2 days ago, apart from starting my year right with an all-off Brazilian waxing session (thank you Pink Parlour!), I had my nails painted with, yes, VIBRANT COLOURS!!!

They asked me what colour I wanted and I was kinda bored with the usual pinks and reds, so I was like, "Can I do multi-colour?" Lol~ So yeah, thinking back, it seems I really started the year colourful!

And just to sidetrack a bit, the morning of the Pink Parlour invite, Jetstar called to say they found my luggage and had it delivered to my residence! Weee~~~ Turned out there was an SQ flight coming back to Singapore from Guangzhou with similar timing, and my luggage decided to take Singapore Airlines back to Singapore. Wah 老娘 take Jetstar only, my luggage took SQ back? Smart... Lol~ At least I'm sure the luggage was better handled. ^.^

And because my colourful heart lights were in that luggage, I was super thrilled!!!

My favourite time of the year. Yeah it's always been Christmas, the season of giving. Every year during Christmas I feel particularly generous, and I will buy gifts for the people around me, especially those I come into close contact with. This year is no exception. Other than the family, some close friends have benefitted from the generosity the season has rubbed off on me. And mind you, I give pretty decent gifts. From TWG Tea Sets to (expensive) Staedtler pencils to Aeropostale shirts, I like putting effort into my gifts, and making sure they are things the receiver will actually appreciate getting. =)

The worst gift I've ever received is this:

Thanks leh. Well, it wasn't exactly meant for me - it was a Christmas Exchange gift I got from last year's Xmas at Kelvin's. (Wonder who this person was.) $20 leh. Sure can get something better lor! *mumbles*

By this time in a soon-to-come year, I want to have my own place decorated for Xmas. =D

没上大学真的没有怎样。上了大学也不一定会出人头地。做事情没有热忱，那，才是值得可怜、心疼的。因为热忱不会让你厌倦、讨厌你做的事，但那张你为了社会压力而去读到的文凭会。

人生短短几十年，不要活在厌倦、无味里。

追求你有热忱的梦想，让它实现，而把它做得最好。这比起拿那张文凭更有前途、更重要。

就好像要找一个爱你的人，比起价格有钱人重要。你是嫁给人，还是把自己卖掉？你真的就只值得那笔钱吗？而且谁说嫁给有钱人，钱会轮到你来哪？

热忱重要？还是文凭重要？当然有文凭职场起不会容易一些，但我选择热忱。因为无不需要那张文凭来证明我的实力。（谁说有文凭的人就肯定有实力？那只证明了你很会读书罢了。）但再有实力的人，文凭学历多高，如果没有那份热忱，你做得再好也不会完全快乐的。

最好就是有那份热忱，然后把它升到念大学的境界。也就是说，把它做得最好。那个时候，你回过头看，那个画面会让你在心里面微笑，而不是懵懵懂懂地，前面几年，甚至几十年，是怎么过的，都不知道，是一片雾。

Die trying to reach for the stars, than in a lifetime of mediocrity. In the former, at least you'll have a more exciting life. =)

I miss school days!!!

Must be my quarter life crisis doing its work...of late I have been reminiscing of the good ol' studying days, a lot. A reader once asked me why her mum told her to enjoy school whle she can because it's going to be the best days of her life. I will say it's kinda true to some extent.

I remember when I was in school, the only things I worry about were my exams and tests (and honestly, we don't really get worked up over them UNTIL exam/test period. Lol~ True? Now, we have to worry about paying the insurance, the telephone bills, the vehicle monthly instalments, petrol (even taking public transport costs us about $150 to $200 per month as an adult, yes?) whether we have enough at the end of the month to be able to give our parents a decent amount of "allowance". All these easily adds up to a thousand bucks, if you're lucky. Then you know the meetings with friends...each "outing" can easily cost you a $50 to a $100. Think about it, a meal at a restaurant is going to set you back $20 each? Then there's the coffee, the random shopping... Not to forget relationships somehow become a lot more complicated, with betrayal and cheating and baggage getting in the way...

You get the idea.

I just came back from a day out with Mint and her partner Jackie. It's probably a long while since I've enjoyed myself the way I've done so the past 2 days. Yesterday they, together with Mint's mum and her mum's friend, brought me to Johor for breakfast, shopping at the Johor Premium Outlets, then a super sumptious seafood dinner at a kelong restaurant. Sounds like a normal day out right? Not really. If you're a student, and you have close friends and you know their parents, maybe. But at my age (not that I'm really old...it's just a post-school-start-working thing), these things don't just happen anymore, unless it's a partner and you're close to your partner's parents enough to all go out together. So yesterday was a really feel-good day.

Then today, we set out on a task to help Jackie buy CNY clothes. Mint has been complaining that Jackie doesn't know how to dress up, and I'm really surprised that Jackie was really open to the idea of us helping to doll him up.

Then we were talking about You Are the Apple of My Eye. I have been told by my cameraman and other friends that it's really a good movie with a good script, and I have been wanting to catch it for a while. The only bad vibe I have with this show is that Nicholas had lied to me about being at Hooters with his batchmates when he was actually watching this show with 3 PRC batchgirls, one of whom he has been calling and chatting on the phone with every night when he told me he wanted this relationship. Yah I know. All that lying. FML. It's really not about me being biased against airline stewards you know, but how to trust one you tell me la~ *acts emo*

Okay la I'm okay now (I think). Story of my life. Hur hur hur...

Anyway back to the movie. Me, Mint and Jackie had decided that we'd go catch a movie after dinner, and we were kinda upset that Bugis Junction only had 4 shows. I was kinda determined to catch a show, and decided to log onto my Showtimezz app to search for Iluma listings. GUESS WHAT?!!!! It's still showing at Iluma!!!!! Mai tu liao la! ^.^ *happy moment*

The main actor in the show reminds me a lot of Nicholas. Happy-go-lucky, not much care or worry in the world, and super teekee. Plus a bit lame. Yet he makes people happy. (Until you decide to care too much.)What the fuck is wrong with me?

My point here is: Watching the show, other than bringing me bad vibes, brought me fond memories of school too, and how innocent love used to be. You know, the crush we had, the things we do to disturb each other, life was just...pure, innocent, childish, fun, and simple.

I remember this guy who went after me in a super duper romantic way. He would call almost every day, ask what I was doing, and then if I said I was studying Chinese, he would insist he lend me his 词语手册. Because he lives a 5min walk away from me, he would suddenly appear at my window and pass me his handbook. And in his handbook will be poems and love letters to me. It's so sweet, and I never imagined that I would grow up and still look back and think "Wow, why didn't I treasure this guy when he was there?", because when we grow up, we realise that people don't really do such things for us anymore. And we, vice versa, stop doing these sweet things for other people...

I remember the boys coming back from recess classes wet and sweaty and the classroom floor dirtied with grass and caked off mud from the patterns in the boys' shoes, and how that would get my form teacher mad and the boys had to 罚站 for one hour while she lectures them. And the girls would feel helpless because we couldn't go on with lessons, nor do anything else in that kind of very tense air in the classroom...

I also remember climbing into the school's clock tower "illegally". And changing out of our PE shirts after Physical Education lessons in the classroom, and chasing away the male teacher taking us for the next period, letting him in only after we were done chasing. Some of us changed in the broom closet, some behind the curtains along the windows facing the hill. I remember hopping along (or rather, ON) the benches and tables in the lecture theatre just to get to the lockers at the back of the class. I remember the Duty Roster for cleaning up the classroom and how we would fool around with the brooms and feather dusters...

School days. You won't come close to anything like it after you graduate and start working and being an "adult". We always tell students to "enjoy school while you can". There is so much more to that statement than we can possibly tell you why. I would love to hear your stories in school. Share them in a comment, tell me why you would tell the kids to "enjoy school while they can", and let the rest of us reminisce in the glory and joy of how wonderful school life had been. =)

Anyways, I am back a day early from Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards as I bought a ticket to Lillian Too's 2012 Exravaganza (happening 18th December) sometime mid June and I really wanted to go for that. So, I'm here to give you first-hand updates on the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards 2011 happenings.

It was a long morning, and after sitting on a bus for about 5-6 hours (dunnno why or how come it took so long), we finally got to Putrajaya Marriott Hotel!!!!

It was really very grand, but my camera can't do this place justice...

I was impressed with the room much~ Mainly because of its sheer size. I love big rooms~ And it is almost impossible to get a room that size in Singapore, unless you're super rich. I promise myself my bedroom is going to be huge, with a walk-in wardrobe. One day.

Peggy Heng. Queen of Controversies this year, and whom everyone says looks like me. (I agree the very first time I saw her. I was like, wtf this girl LOOKS LIKE ME!!!)

We decided to take a picture to show the comparison. Not exactly alike here somehow. =)

Though everyone has a certain impression of this girl (and they may be largely mistaken), I'd like to form my own - I don't really know her well enough to judge her (don't like playing the judging game either, it's too easy for people to play judge when you don't know something enough), but she comes across as very spontaneous, and fun. Take time to know someone more, and you will find something you like about that person. ;)

Cosplayers may be familiar with her. She's one. She was seated beside me for the night, and when I came home and told my sis my sis was like "Orh I know who she is! I've heard of and seen her before!" Cool~ If I'm not wrong there was a Cosplay event also happening in KL at around the same time.

The food. Gosh, the food. It was served airline Business Class style. With the stewards (waiters) coming round to take your order of your choice of main course after having presented you with a menu card, then the dishes were served part by part, starter, breadroll (complete with bread basket!!!), entree, dessert...in that order.

My entree. When they served it (I ordered fish), the waiter came and asked me this question:

"Excuse me, you fish?"

No sir, do I look like one? Immediately the experience went from full marks to 70.

I reacted immediately with a "No I'm not a fish. But I yes, I ordered fish."

I super major love her pink hair and full-sequinned blue dress that night. She looked a million bucks, yet still maintained a cutesy-pretty feel about her. =)

She was all teary-eyed when she got on to the stage, having not yet gotten over her win at the Most Influential Blog. The Nuffies had told her they wouldn't be giving the same person Region's Best Blog twice (she won the first one at NAPBAS 2009), so she was totally not prepared to go up the stage again. Guess she IS Region's Best, and we have to honour that. ;)

She spoke about how the whole world laughed at her and looked down at her when she first started blogging, and her speech made me tear too. (If you read her earlier posts you will know who *Ian is. Ian, whoever you are, whether or not you are still her friend, thank you for getting her to start blogging! The blogosphere is what it is today, really, very partly because of her.) It hasn't been an easy journey for her, but Xiaxue is where she is now, and I am truly very very happy for her. She, plus Qiuting, were my very very first inspirations to start blogging. =D

Life's Little Surprises

I've had my share of failed relationships, and I sometimes wonder if all couples will come to this point where someone will cheat on their partner.

That little girl in me would still like to believe that fairytales do happen in real life.

For someone who is that little bit jaded, I sometimes attend weddings wondering if the couple will last. In the last couple of years, however, I've been to weddings which make me smile, and believe that real, committed, loving, faithful partners exist.

Candyce and Junyang's was the first of the series of loving weddings. And then it was followed by Raymond and Yvonne's. Then Japheth and Barbara's. Followed by Roanna and Leonard's, and then Yvonne (another Yvonne of course, which kinda makes me wonder if all Yvonnes will marry loving husbands) and Andy's.

Hosted and sang at Andy and Yvonne's wedding about 3 weeks back.

I also had the honour of hosting and singing at Roanna and Leonard's wedding. Thanks dears, for allowing me to help make your wedding special. =)

These weddings I attended made me smile from the bottom of my heart, and even moved me to tears in some parts. I sincerely wish their love eternal forever magical. All of them seem to be doing well, and I'm really happy for them. Roanna is now preggers and they call the baby in her "Cashew" (cos it was shaped like one..lol). Congratulations my dear~ I know with you and Leonard, "Cashew" will grow up happy and fine. ;)

That is the kind of wedding and marriage I hope for myself. The kind which people will look at and smile, and sincerely wish well. There are weddings I have attended which doesn't make people feel that way, either the love is not strong enough, or for some warped I-think-it's-time-for-me-to-get-married-so-I-do reason, they get married, but I don't feel the bliss exuding from them. If you have bad vibes about marrying this partner, don't.


The flowers that I caught, after Yvonne threw her bouquet backwards the pass-on-the-next-wedding style. Yes, it's the first time I was actually enthusiastic about catching that bouquet of flowers we usually try so hard to avoid catching. ^.^

The kind of love, and the kind of man I want to marry, has to feel right. It has to make me feel secure that no matter what happens, we will be there for each other to support and encourage, and catch when the other party falls. A nurturing relationship, one would call it. I'm learning to live my life and love myself the way I should, so that this man can appear. Maybe he already has, but hasn't morphed into someone I know will be my partner, buddy, confidante, lover, for life. Maybe he's around me as a friend or we have met back in school. Or maybe some I-met-you-on-the-plane-remember? incident will occur and there he will be.

Life's little surprises. I look at the clouds and I smile. Yes, I am at peace, and can smile now. It's amazing to know that you can let go of the things which used to upset you so much. You can't rush it. It'll just happen. And I think over the last 2 weeks in Laos and Indonesia, it happened.

Taiwanese 原住民 Singers，& Hotpot

Hey dears!!! I know I haven't really been updating much the past 1 month. Been really all over the place doing the travelogue. Was in Taiwan mid last month for 2 weeks, then Laos last week, and now I am in Indonesia. Up and out by 8am, and back to hotel only after dinner. Hotel was really pretty though, and I promise I will show you guys pictures at a later date. I was looking through my Taiwan pictures and came across some depicting the Amis culture.

Thanks to Taiwanese shows we hear of 阿美族 quite a lot. The Amis (阿美族) are indigenous people, belonging to one of 14 recognized groups of Taiwanese aborigines（原住民）.

Adjective:

Originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native: "the indigenous peoples of Siberia".

There are a total of 25 groups of Taiwanese aborigines. That's quite a huge number, and I am quite ashamed to say that I only knew of the Amis before my trip to Taiwan.

I'm sure you know that the 原住民s are famous for being really good at singing. Here are a few whom I know are Amis:

The Taiwanese aborigines are Austronesian people, with linguistic and genetic ties to other Austronesian ethnic groups, such as peoples of the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Madagascar, Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia. That's why most 原住民s don't look very Chinese. =)

(We all know the answer for some of them, but humour me la~)

I was in Taiwan's Guang Fu, and was at this place called Ma Tai An Wetlands, and we were shown how the Amis cooked a traditional meal of Hot Stone Fish Head.

Hot sunny day. One of the few days when we had sun in Taiwan. Most of the time it was gloomy or raining. Not that I would complain of course. My favourite kinda weather lies in London. So I wasn't exactly the most thrilled to be in the sun and getting shades darker (Jogjakarta where I am at now is MAD HOT!!!!! Sunny and humid and hot!!! Gimme back my clouds!!!)

This is how they catch fish. As the fish swims upstream, they get tired after a distance and would duck into one of these blocked up "sanctuaries" to rest.

So when they go collect the "Seafood", they will close the opening of the "pool" so that the fishes can't escape.

Spotted: Bird footprints, as well as earthworm wriggle marks in the mud. ^.^

The top layer would be some leaves for shade so as to create a dark environment for the fishes to hide. The second layer is made up of twigs tied together for shrimps and prawns to hide in. And the last layer is made up of huge bamboo poles, and the centre of the bamboo is where eels and other fishes may try to hide. Genius!

I was taught a super genius and exo-friendly way to make crockery and cutlery.

Leaf! Fallen on the ground huge leaf!!!

They would dry them, cut them out, and prior to using, soak to soften so that it's easier to fold.

As these leaves have a layer of natural waterproof membrane on its surface, it won't leak. Plus, the leaves are quite thick and hardy, so they're not prone to breakage~

And with a bit of origami work and toothpicks...

GOSH! I made my own bowl and spoon made out of dead leaves!!!!

Even the string used to tie the spoon was the stem of some plant!

太厉害了吧！！！

If you think these ingredients are on Nasi Lemak plates, you are wrong. These green "plates" are REAL leaves!

And so we begin cooking.

No joke, even the pot we were going to cook in was made of the leaf!!!!!

This is the pot. This is not the most amazing part yet...

So we were taught to fill the "pot" up halfway with water, and put all the fish in.

This super ancient fireplace was just behind us, and the lady who taught us how to cook picked one of the stones up, rinsed it in the bucket of water beside, and....

Put it into the pot!!!!!

What the hell???? She just put a hot stone into our food!!!! And immediately you can hear the sizzling!

She added a few more to add heat, and when a stone was seemingly no longer hot enough (it doesn't exude steam upon contact with water), she took it out and threw it back into the fireplace! Within minutes the pot of fish head soup was ready! We added the watercress and it was ready for consumption!

This tasted really good, and the fish were all cooked thoroughly. No oil was added! Just a pinch of salt was all it took! And hot stones!!!

And all along I thought Hot Stone Fishhead 石头火锅 meant that we would use a claypot kinda pot made of stone to cook the dish! What a pleasant surprise! It's a very healthy and yummy dish too!

And I have 2 originally-super anti-social dogs to vouch for that. These 2 dogs belong to the Amis people, and no matter how I tried to go near them, they would run away. I tried feeding them bits of the fish, and I then got to stroke both of them. 用食物骗小狗，真烂。Lol.

They kept coming back to ask for more!
