So I was on YouTube a lot lately, watching and learning new songs, and you know how these ads come up and you can't skip it? There was one on the Himalaya Herbals Nourishing Skin Cream, and because I'm a sucker for greenish blue stuff (plus I can't skip it right?), the ad kinda caught my attention.
My stay in Taiwan has me paying more attention to my skin, and of late my skin has been so dry I could draw on it with my nails. I've been looking at moisturizers quite a bit, especially multi-purpose ones that do the job without me feeling sticky.
You see, in Taiwan, especially during the colder months, it's almost compulsory to moisturize. I didn't for 2 days on my hands and my cuticles tore and started bleeding. Ouch. And because I would have on long sleeves and slacks even when I'm at home, it doesn't feel sticky at all to moisturize.
Here in Singapore, however, I moisturize and I feel oily, especially when I'm home and I'm just in shorts. I'd leave an imprint on my floor after sitting on it. ><
So this thing caught my attention, and I decided to give it a try. The brand had its beginnings in India with the vision to combine bring Ayurveda to modern pharmaceutical-grade level. By going into extensive research so that there is a deeper understanding of the herbs used in Ayurveda, Himalaya Herbals was born.
Ayurveda is a type of traditional medicine native to the Indian subcontinent, and has been around for more than 5000 years. Think of TCM, Indian-style. What Himalaya Herbals did was to do extensive R&D to make sure that the herbs used for their products are safe and up to pharmaceutical-grade.
Himalaya has been granted the GMP "Good Manufacturing Practices" Certificate, and they were the first GMP-approved herbal manufacturing facility in India. From what I know of the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industry, this certification is pretty hard to attain. Which means that Himalaya Herbals products are truly of high quality standards.
Comes in 2 sizes so I have one at home, and another which I just stuff in my handbag.
Because this is a multipurpose moisturizer that you can use everywhere, including your face,
the small one is great for carrying onboard airplanes. Moisturizing onboard IS A MUST! It's crazy how dry the air can be when you're on a flight so take care of your skin!
The smell is light. I can't take overpowering smells on my body, and this is acceptable for me.
My hands get dry the easiest because I wash them a lot. Not when I'm out, but when I'm home and cleaning. It's like an OCD thing. Even though I'm going to get them dirty again before I'm done cleaning, as long as I walk to the basin I need to wash them. So in the end I always get dry cuticles which I get tempted to bite off which will result in them bleeding. Not a good idea.
Thus I make it a point to moisturize them these days by carrying some kind of moisturizer in my handbag. Of late it's the Nourishing Skin Cream. =)
The key ingredients of the Himalaya Herbals Nourishing Skin Cream are Aloe Vera, Indian Kino Tree and Winter Cherry. We all know that aloe vera is great for providing hydration to the skin, but did you know that aloe vera is a natural UV inhibitor? Yup, it helps protect your skin cells from sun damage.
The Indian Kino Tree is useful for treating skin conditions, and because of its antibacterial properties, it helps to heal cuts and promote healing. It also helps to protect your skin against dirty polluted air. The antibacterial properties also help to take away some of my concerns regarding such open have-to-stick-hand-into-product jar designs.
As for Winter Cherry, in Ayurvedic practices, it is used as an anti-stress agent and promotes a sense of well-being. The winter cherry helps It's primary usage in folk medicine is as an aphrodisiac and it has been used as a love potion for hundreds of years. Hmm...some food for thought... ^.^
It's pretty rich when it comes to moisturizing functionality, so I really love having this on. You can also double it up as a hydrating makeup base so your face stays moisturized the whole day!
The Nourishing Skin Cream also has excellent emollient and humectant (moisture-retention) properties, which means it prevents trans-epidermal water loss. In layman terms, it simply means that the moisture stays put where you apply it. =)
Favourite activity before I sleep these days - moisturizing everywhere. Maybe it's age catching up with me and me being paranoid about it showing on my skin, I've been more diligent with my body skincare.
I wear a lot of shoulder-baring clothes, and I need them to look good and yummy. You know, just in case anyone gets near or some potential guy decides to put his arms around my shoulder. Lol!
Never ever forget your neck ladies. You spend so much time, effort and money on your face to look youthful, so don't let the neck give your age away. Plus, the collar bone area is a really sexy part of your body. Keep it looking supple. ;)
Verdict: I really like it!
It's really affordable ($5.30 for the 50ml bottle and $12.90 for the 150ml bottle) for a multipurpose cream. I can use it anywhere on my body as a body cream. And though it's moisturizing properties are pretty strong, it's lightweight enough for my face, and I can even use it as a makeup base. What's not to like? =)
Just for my readers!
I have 10 bottles of HIMALAYA HERBALS NOURISHING SKIN CREAM (50ml) to give away!
Just answer this question:
Name a key herbal ingredient in this multipurpose
Nourishing Skin Cream.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day! We all know it's a day for lovers, and a day dedicated all to love. Past the infatuation and the lust, how do you know if you really love this person? They say you'll just know. You'll feel it, and it'll show.
1. Can't live without, or knowing you can live without, yet you don't want to.
You know how they always say love is when you can't live without the person? That's dependency. Love is allowing yourself to be dependent on each other, allowing yourself to let go because you trust he has your back. We are all independent beings and can be happy by ourselves, but love is also choosing to live with the person, despite his flaws, strange habits, and all.
2. Wanting to tell the other person every little up and down in your life.
You know that feeling you get when something good or bad happens in your life, no matter how big or small, and the first person that comes to mind is him? You want to share your life with him.
3. Actually wanting to iron his clothes.
There's nothing more obvious than wanting to do trivial things for him that you usually wouldn't even enjoy doing for yourself.
4. Looking at him and thinking how lucky you are to have him and to have him love you back.
Out of the millions of people in this world, you chose each other. That's something to be grateful about. Quit nitpicking on that one or two things you can't stand about him and appreciate all the good he has to offer. He could love anyone, but he chose to love you. =)
5. Wanting to give him all you have while still being you.
Never lose sight of who you are. He fell in love with who you were, with your personality. Of course you can improve yourself, but don't become his mother/maid/shadow/live your life for him. Live your life for you, and know that he wants to be a part of it.
6. Never letting go when she's crying.
Whatever the reason is for her crying.
Even Especially when the reason is you.
Love is not about being there for each other when times are good. True love is when you want to be there for each other when times are trying.
7. Smiling deep inside when you know you are the reason he's happy.
It's a really wonderful feeling, to be able to feel the one next to you happy, and you are the cause of it. Deeply satisfying, and somehow it just makes you want to love him even more.
8. Going out of your way to be with this person.
When the whole world disapproves. When he stays in Tampines and you in Tuas. When you have to wake up early to drive to her place to send her to work. When it's just inconvenient, but you do it happily, even on grouchy mornings. Cos that grouchy morning will turn good once you see her. ^.^
9. Making sacrifices, and feeling every bit worth it.
So you realise your working hours are too long and you have no time for each other. So you switch to one that allows you more free time. And yes she doesn't like you hanging out with those female friends whom obviously she finds to be threats. So you hang out with them less. And something more drastic, you migrate to a different place because your love has wanted to all her life? You know you love someone when you make all these sacrifices, big or small, and at the end of the day you smile to yourself because you're glad you did it.
10. Accepting someone fully for who he is.
Because Love is...

Got anything planned for Valentine's Day yet? If not, thank goodness you're here! I have an event at the Singapore Turf Club Marquee, and open entry is only for those who have tickets for that night. *The Marquee is usually only open to VIP members of the Singapore Turf Club only.
So what's this about?
Ok, imagine this - you and your beau dressed up to the nines, with beautiful lighting (so your makeup just looks amazing from every angle). You walk into the exquisitely dressed-up marquee (air-conditioned of course), and your girl will be immediately presented with a rose just as beautiful, and everyone in the room will have on a Venetian mask.
Not far into the distance, horses gallop under the clear night sky, and you hear a faint cheering on of people's favourite horses. If you choose, you may bet on a horse you feel an affinity with.
Everyone looks gorgeous, but somehow, the person who's with you tonight is who makes your heart skip a beat. As you gaze into your lovers' eyes, a waitress offers you both Champagne, or for those who prefer non-alcohols, juices. In a corner of the room, the aroma of the scrumptious buffet spread wafts over. All your senses are tickled. (Trust me, it'll feel even more special if you drink that little bit more. *wink*)
As you chat with your special one about trivial sweet-nothings and possibly romantic plans for your life together ahead, a live band plays your favourite love songs. The night is perfect.
And then, the show begins. By now, hopefully you're feeling a little high, and maybe a little crazy. The Essential Secrets Fashion Show begins. Think lingerie and bikini clad models (French, American, South Africans, exotic models) in feathers, lace, and wings. Yes, like THE Victoria's Secret Fashion Shows, in a cosier setting.
Ladies will have men with sexy glistening six-packed bodies strutting down the runway for your eyes to feast on as well. Though, being a girl, I know we love looking at pretty girls as much as men does. Eye candies are guaranteed to get you hot and bothered, no matter what. (Washrooms are at either side of the room, in case you need them. Eh hem.)
Thinking of getting a gift for your girl which she will never forget? We have that planned as well. Live auctions will be held for your man to bid you a bottle of good wine for what lies ahead. Hey, that's something not every girl has gotten. I would love to see my man in a fiery bid with other men to get me something special. ;)
Guest celerities like Louis Wu and 2 mystery guests will be there to grace the event, and there's also sexy and fun DJ Nicole Chen who will be there to spin music for the party later on, should you and your beau wish to dance.
I will be your special host for the evening. ^.^
How's that for descriptive writing? Lol. Do I have a picture in your head about what to expect for this event now? You're going to spend on the Valentine's dinner anyway, so make it worthwhile. At S$88 per ticket, I think this will be a lot more than what you will get at a fancy restaurant dinner with the same price. And because this is a per ticket price (instead of the usual per-couple pricing), you can gather your girlfriends or guy friends and join in the masque party! (Imagine if you can get your whole class to come!) If you have your own beautiful tiaras and masks, bring them on! It's going to be a sexy night!
Think dress-up, mystery, topless hunks, bikini babes, romance, and Gossip Girl.
Just one thing to note - because everyone is beautiful and in masks, do kiss the right person that night. ;)
Call 62898852 to book your tickets now! Quote "Silver" to get an extra gift when you collect your tickets!
By the way, happy endings are not provided, of course. We'll let you end the night your own special way.
Images are for reference only, of course. We're not letting the cat out of the bag for we want it to be a surprise. But you get the idea. ;)

Chinese New Year happens over a period of 15 days, and for most of us it makes an excellent excuse to meet up with friends you have not seen for a long time.
These are my primary school mates, with my P6 form teacher beside me in blue. She doesn't age omg!
I like the fact that we still bother to keep in contact after so many years, tho I always feel a little too kiddish when I meet the bunch cos most of my classmates are already Mummies n Daddies! O.O
This next bunch though, haha, I feel right at home with!
The Project Superstars!!!!!! AKA super 長不大s lol!
People, especially the producers of the show, used to tell us that it's hard to come by that we were so close even when we were competing. I didn't understand what they meant until recent years when I found out that in competitions, this really rarely happens. And to stay friends 9 years on? Woohoo!
Next year is our 10th anniversary! PSS 10th Anniversary concert? *hint to Mediacorp and all event organizers* =D
So what do we do when we get together, apart from Louhei and eat?
Big small! So old school omg!
Yuharhei. I've never played these in my life!!! Damn fun la! Especially when everyone including Weilian could get involved. Lai ah lai ah pang xie ah!!! KAI AH!!!! LOL!!!!
Love these yearly get-togethers. We just got our new place so probably the next gathering will be at my new place for housewarming after reno! (Sponsors welcome okay?) Must organize more of such get-togethers. 感情才不會散～
Next up is Vday! Got your special night planned already? If not I have somewhere to intro you in my next post so I'll talk to you soon yeah? ;)

Since it's still CNY, here's me bai-nianing to you!
Gong Xi Fa Cai!!!!!
CNYs have always been a time for family reunions. Truth be told, for many years, I didn't truly understand this. Because I live with my family, and at least once a month or every 2 months we would have dinners with the extended family, grandparents, aunts, uncles and all.
This year though, I have moved to Taiwan (I'm still trying to let that sink in), and even though I won't go away for long periods of time, living on my own does make family reunions that much more special.
A precious photo with both grandparents. There's also my mum, sis, aunt, n her kids.
To be honest, the only thing I looked forward to every year during CNY visiting (apart from the obvious annual bonus that comes in red envelopes), are my 2 closest cousins. You see, I come from a really huge family. My grandmother has 3 siblings, and each one has like at least 5 children. Then when each one gets married and starts their family of at least 2 children you get 4x5x4 = at least 80 people. I haven't even counted my grandpa's side. O.O
My mum's the eldest, and I'm the eldest. And somehow I'm like one of the first ones in my generation, cos I have mum's cousins close to my age (so they are technically my uncles and aunts but our ages are close), and most of my cousins are as young as the kids you see above. So when it comes to age gap and relevant topics, I could hardly connect with the really young ones (imagine me 20 years old and the rest in pre/primary school).
The ones closest to me were Kaiwen, whom I went to high school with, and Phyllis, whom you should have seen in a number of my Instagram pictures. Come 初一, these 2 would be my highlights. =)
Kaiwen whom I went to Nanyang Girls' with, and who was my classmate for Sec 1 & 2.
What are the chances, right?
And then of course, there are my friends. Here's Ruth (with her hubs), currently my manager, and also the one who introduced me to my Aesthetics doctor. How can I ever thank her enough? =D
And Evangeline, my current nail sponsor, whom I can trust with my life. ^.^
WHY NO PICTURES WITH MINT LEONG??????
Will supplement in a later post. Lol. Cos we didn't take any couple pictures together that day. I forgot to with a number of other people as well.
CNY celebrations somehow always include a Lou Hei, even though initially I believe Louhei was meant for 人日, which is the birthday of mankind, which falls on the 7th day of the Lunar New Year.
(I did a couple of posts introducing louhei and how to go about it some years back, so you can read about that here and here.)
These days Lou Hei happen any day during the 15-day CNY period. Hey, I wouldn't mind doing more of it if it meant tossing more good luck!
The most re nao lou hei I've had in my family. Tossing good luck with all the people who are dear to me, this one was pretty meaningful. I know every one of them (and you) has wishes and aspirations they wish to achieve this year, so I wish everyone an amazing horse year ahead. May your dreams and success gallop beautifully like horses do!

Every year I would find this MTV and look at us and of course, myself, and how far we have come. I miss those days when we used to compete against each other, yet hang out and do crazy stuff after. This year we're meeting on 初十 for our annual gathering, and I can't wait!
Here you go, 当年少年的我们。。。
祝大家 喜滋滋 迎新年 甜蜜蜜 过新春！
